If you’re an adult (or a teenager that has experienced peer pressure) you’ve probably heard at some point how alcohol is necessary to have a good time. This is the absolute furthest thing from the truth. Firstly, if you are under the age of 19 the consumption of any alcohol is against the law, and the law should be followed. If you are over the age of 19, the decision to consume alcohol should be your decision alone and should always be done responsibly. Also, the operation of any vehicle should NEVER be done while under the influence of alcohol or any drug that may impair your judgment. When over consumed, alcohol can prove itself to be dangerous and cause problems for you, your friends and family.
Making the right decision in life can be difficult at times, but when you have done the right research and obtained solid information, it makes things that much easier. On the surface, trying to achieve fresher breath by using mouthwash doesn’t seem like a life altering decision, but it can be.
The main difference between many mouthwashes these days is the fact that some contain alcohol, while others do not. The question many have is what is the better option? In my opinion, when a mouthwash has always had alcohol as an ingredient and then it slowly has been phased out over the past 10-15 years, it makes be believe that there must be a reason for that. Mouthwashes with alcohol usually create a burning sensation when being used which can be uncomfortable for many. In addition to the uncomfortable feeling, the alcohol dries out the mouth and eliminates both the good and bad bacteria when used, which causes an imbalance that can affect overall oral hygiene.
The choice is yours to make, but make sure you do your due diligence before you make any mouthwash purchase and consult your local Ottawa dental professional and have them guide you on which option is best.
